Position: Engineering manager

About You

You are hands on, curious and a tinkerer. No task
is too small and no project is too big. You can
do and manage. You are resourceful and have a
proactive positive attitude. You have excellent
communication skills. You can communicate ideas
quickly through sketches. You love to research
and are always up to date with the latest
technologies and manufacturing techniques. You
can manage multiple projects, prioritize and have
excellent organizational skills. This is a hands-on design and leadership role.

Job Responsibilities:

Managing design and engineering activities for
new products including research, brainstorming,
concept development, rapid prototyping, ID,
mechanical design, electrical design, engineering
documentation and manufacturing support.

Managing existing and future products.
Scheduling, budgeting, and tracking of internal projects.

    * Running Brainstorms to turn research insights into product concepts
    * Rapid in-house and external prototyping
    * Managing industrial design
    * Detail engineering using Cad and managing
engineering at manufacturers or third parties
    * Design and engineering documentation
    * Manufacturing Liaison
    * Managing regulatory agencies such as UL or
international safety agencies.
    * Resource/budget tracking to make sure
projects are within budget constraints
    * Generating regular status report for various projects

Key skills and attributes include:

    * 6-10 years engineering and design
experience, both in engineering and engineering management
    * Excellent mechanical design and prototyping
techniques. Should be able to brainstorm,
prototype and test mechanisms with rapid prototyping techniques.
    * Portfolio of work showing range of consumer
products that you have worked on from concept to production
    * Experience in front-end conception through
engineering and implementation
    * Ability to create elegant solutions to
complex and cross-disciplinary design objectives.
    * Excellent Brainstorming skills, great ideas and support for team ideas
    * Experience shipping innovative and complex products within deadlines.
    * Ability to work with & partner with
manufacturing and sourcing teams to execute designs.
    * Good understanding of electronic circuits
    * Design and engineering documentation and understanding of DFM issues.
    * Experience with domestic and overseas vendors
    * Proven ability to innovate within and
extend current technology through design.
    * Proven ability to work with cross
functional team and multiple design objectives.
    * Mastery of CAD/Solid works is required
    * MS Office / Adobe Suite
    * The ability to “wear different hats” in
managing team of creative people and various types of projects.
    * A great sense of humor
