Come work on a cutting-edge engineering research project in innovative
biomaterials manufacturing, part of a new initiative at NASA Ames
Research Center in Mountain View! We have an immediate opening for a
summer engineering student (or graduate within the past year) to join
an integrated team of mechanical engineers and synthetic biologists.
This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact, cross-disciplinary,
experimental investigation selected for NASA’s innovation fund. Work
schedule can be flexible, part- or full-time, running through
September with the potential option to extend into December. Must be
US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
* Strong background in mechatronics, robotics, embedded systems
programming or related area
* Experience with low-level software programming for device
interfacing and operation (for motion control is a plus)
* Experience with hardware applicable to automated positioning systems
(DC motors, encoders, controllers, etc.)
* Familiarity with C programming (for serial device
integration/control is a plus)
* Comfortable in a Linux environment (Debian or Debian-based systems is a plus)
Additional Bonuses:
* Familiarity with microfluidics, especially dispensing systems
* Familiarity with real-time operating systems
* Some college-level biology background
