a Mechanical Engineer/Designer. This person would
join Motiv's technical team and be a designer of
mechanical hardware. Primary responsibilities
involve design to meet the thermal, shock and
vibration requirements for heavy vehicle
packaging of power control electronics and high
voltage, high power electrical vehicle
distribution using large format batteries (up to
hundreds of kW) that are key components of our
electric-drive vehicle control systems.



Motiv is a fast-growing, innovative startup firm,
in a fast growing market and we are looking for
candidates that are ready and excited to be in an
entrepreneurial role. A candidate must be ready
to provide enthusiastic contributions across a
wide range of technical disciplines. Candidate
must be self-motivated. Compensation is based on
experience and includes equity. This position is
full time. Sorry, we are not able to support H1B visas at this time.



Responsibilities:

• Detailed 3d design and development
of packaging for power electronics and battery systems

• Design of harnesses and cabling for vehicle applications

• Create detailed 2D drawings for release to vendors

• Identify and assess prototype and
high-volume suppliers for system components

• Manage parts libraries and drawings



Skills Required:

• BSME in Mechanical Engineering or
related field or equivalent in education and experience

• Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience

• Strong proficiency with CAD
Software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)

• Familiarity with ANSI Y 14.5 drawing standard

• Experience with heavy sheet metal packaging, welding.

• Familiarity with power electronics and batteries preferred.

• Experience taking a product/design from conception to production

• Strong communication skills



Other:

• Be a growing technical resource in
multiple areas of design, such as thermal,
structural, serviceability, manufacturability and reliability.

• Willing to grow into analysis for
strength, vibration and impact survival and thermal modeling as needed.

next-generation power management electronics and
software for heavy electric-drive vehicles.
Motiv’s products make it easy to integrate new
technology components into heavy electric-drive
vehicles and collect the data needed for
efficient management of electric fleets. Motiv
is in the process of completing a prototype
all-electric shuttle bus with a grant from the CA
Energy Commission, as well as starting a new
grant from the Energy Commission to build 4 more
all-electric trucks on a traditional diesel assembly line.
