Position:Product Design Engineer (Electrical Engineering)

Travel:10-25% travel to Africa
Duration:Full time, 1 year commitment
Silicon Valley Technology Partners (SVTP) is
developing innovative product lines to improve
quality of life at the global base of the
pyramid. As Product Design Engineer (Electrical
Engineering), you will be an integral member of
our research and development team, combining your
experience with the challenges of the developing
world and your talent for engineering and product
design. You will work with SVTP colleagues in our
office in China to brainstorm new ideas, turn new
ideas into prototypes, and turn prototypes into
polished designs. You will analyze and refine
existing circuits and design electrical systems
for new products. You will meet with counterparts
at our suppliers to incorporate accurate pricing
and manufacturability into your designs in order
to optimize the value to the end customer,
enabling us to build world-class products that
improve the lifestyles of those who can benefit the most.
Responsibilities
- Drive product development and engineering design for all SVTP products.
- Shepherd ideas from brainstorming through
prototyping to mature design refinements.
- Analyze and refine electrical circuits of existing products.
- Design and layout circuits for new products.
- Troubleshoot product problems from manufacturing to consumer feedback.
Minimum Qualifications:
- US Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in
Electrical Engineering from nationally recognized engineering school
- Experience working in a developing country
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with product design or consumer research
- Facility with foreign language
- Familiar with cross-cultural team dynamics
Compensation:Monthly stipend, plus all travel and housing expenses covered.
