NuvoSun is a manufacturer of flexible thin film CIGS based solar
products. The company has developed unique process capital equipment
and proprietary interconnect technology that enables a path to
providing superior products at a very compelling price point.

It is an exciting time at NuvoSun! We are preparing to take
significant steps to expand our focus to manufacture material for the
Dow Powerhouse Shingle product in addition to continuing our R&D
activities in pursuit of higher product efficiency and expanding
product markets. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will primarily
support the vacuum coater (various sputter and evaporation deposition
processes) and automation systems (cell building, testing, and
assembly processes) equipment groups, with extended responsibilities
throughout the organization. Specific duties and requirements are as follows:

Duties:
- Assist equipment engineering team in troubleshooting equipment
issues to find root causes and implement appropriate solutions
- Interface with equipment operators and process engineers to ensure
equipment needs are being met and work with equipment engineering
team to resolve any shortfalls
- Participate in brainstorming and design concept development to
support any necessary design changes or new requirements
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings (SolidWorks) to support design
changes or new requirements
- Interface with commercially-supplied equipment vendors and work
with purchasing team to pursue low-cost solutions
- Assist equipment engineering team in developing and revising full
equipment documentation

Requirements:
- Education: Entering final year pursuing a B.S. degree or pursuing
M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Self-starter and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong 3D modeling and drawing skills with SolidWorks
- Understanding of proper modeling/drawing practices
- Good understanding of hardware manufacturing methods
- Hands-on fabrication experience preferred
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
- GD&T understanding a plus
- Experience working with equipment maintenance technicians a plus
- Experience working with a PDM system is a plus
