NanoCore Technologies is an early stage
technology company that has developed a method of
metal additive manufacturing that is an order of
magnitude less complicated and expensive than
existing printers. Today, popular Direct Metal
Laser Sintering 3D printers cost half a million
dollars or more and are based on dangerous
powdered metals and expensive high-powered

science and machine design to make metal 3D
printing easier, safer and less expensive than

Your Role:

You will combine years of machine design
experience with a solid background in mechanical
engineering and analysis help NanoCore bring our
first metal 3D printer to market. Under the
supervision of the Head of Machine Design, you
will lead the teamā€™s mechanical design efforts
including specification of mechanical components
and design of custom machined, stamped, molded
and cast parts in a variety of materials. You
will design a high precision machine that must
withstand the rigors of constant industrial usage. Other tasks include:

• Computer aided design of complicated parts,
assemblies and working models consisting of hundreds of discrete components.

• Documentation of parts for manufacturing using
ANSI standards for tolerancing, material
specification, surface finish, and mechanical testing specification.

• Materials selection for metal and plastic parts
based on static and dynamic loads, fatigue
resistance, durability and mechanical and thermal properties.

• Cooperating and contributing as an integral
part of the larger engineering team consisting of
mechanical, electrical, materials and software
engineers to build an amazing machine



Your Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise in machine design and
mechanical engineering for the design of high
precision industrial and/or scientific equipment
consisting of structural elements (custom & stock
metal and plastic components), motion elements
(motors, bearings, linear & rotary motion
guides, ball screws, mirror positioning), and
sensing elements ( mechanical, thermal, optical,
magnetic, and other • sensors).

• Proven track record of moving products from
design into full scale manufacturing

• Demonstrated project management skills;
experience overseeing and completing projects on
schedule and within allocated budget

• Demonstrated ability to solve a wide range of
technical problems with creativity, where
analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of a variety of factors

• Knowledge and experience with electrical
systems and electrical component specification is a plus

• 5+ years of CAD experience including part and
assembly design, parametric modeling, kinematic
motion analysis, FEA and documentation experience

• 4-6 years minimum work experience in machine
design and mechanical engineering

• Bachelors or Masters in mechanicaal engineering or related field

• Strong verbal and written communication skills,
as demonstrated through interactions with peers
across their organization, business unit, and/or the laboratory
