Nextdoor is looking for an exceptional Design Intern to join our team
this summer and help in transforming the way people connect and
communicate with their neighbors.

Design Interns at Nextdoor play a critical role on our team and are
treated like full-time employees, while still having the flexibility
and mentorship to explore a variety of disciplines and mediums
throughout the summer. As a design intern, you'll own a project and
work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design to
implement your work from ideation through launch. In addition to
working directly within the design team, you'll be paired with a
mentor from the team who will work with you 1:1 on your intern
project, teach you best design practices, and make sure you learn a
ton while still having fun along the way.

If you get excited about solving complex design problems, are
obsessed with creating smart, polished products, and thrive in highly
collaborative, mission-driven environments, we want to meet you! Join
us in designing a new way to communicate on the local level.

Our internships are paid, around 3 months long, and are based at our
Nextdoor HQ office in downtown San Francisco.

Responsibilities:
Create product and/or visual designs that contribute to the design of
products across mobile, web, and desktop
Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale
Collaborate with cross-functional, product-oriented teams to produce
elegant design solutions
Ideate and implement user centered product designs

Requirements:
A student graduating in 2017 or 2018 with a degree in Graphic Design,
Human-Computer Interaction or related field
Portfolio featuring examples of graphic, visual, and/or interaction design work
Strong abilities in either visual design (graphic design and UI
design) and/or interaction design (user-centered design methods,
research, prototyping, etc.)
Proficiency with common design tools and software software (Adobe CS,
Sketch, prototyping tools, etc)
Experience and comfort working independently and with cross-functional teams
Prior work experience in an internship or full-time position is a plus

Please also include a link to your portfolio or samples of recent work.
