We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in
opto-mechanical systems to lead the mechanical design architecture of
our product and carry it thru to production. You will work closely
with the founding team and a cross functional engineering group to
release our first generation product at an unmatched pace. You will
have the opportunity to help grow an early stage company where you
are accountable for an end product that will touch the lives of 10+
million users.


Your role:

Design & develop product mechanical architectures comprised of a
number of complex optical modules & high precision components. Lead
the design for manufacturability & reliability efforts and manage all
aspects of product development, suppliers oversight & overall build &
test support.


Your expertise:
    * 5+ years of experience in detail design, development and
validation of complex opto-mechanical and electromechanical systems
    * Solid understanding of opto-mechanical & mechanical basics:
physics of optics, mechanics & properties of materials and thermodynamics
    * Experience in design of high-precision optical systems with
micron level placement processes including lens alignment and fixturing
    * Expertise in manufacturing processes with various metal and
plastic materials (including machining, die-cutting and injection molding)
    * Experience in design for manufacturing across the entire
product life cycle from concept thru volume production
    * Experience managing the entire build process from component
suppliers to assembly and test at Integration CMs
    * Solid understanding of design for assembly and integration in
complex systems including tolerance stack analysis & Statistical
Process Control
    * Experience with scientific failure analysis processes:
hypothesis generation & DOE to root cause and develop corrective
actions. Experience with FMEA methods and FEA tools
    * Experience designing motion actuator mechanisms and control systems
    * Highly proficient in CAD design & simulation tools (NX,
Solidworks, CATIA or equivalent)
    * Ability to operate rapid prototyping machines in a prototyping
shop is a plus
