Graphic Design Internship, Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development (Remote)

The Institute's Graphic Design Internship track offers an opportunity for graduate and/or undergraduate students in graphic design, digital art, and industrial and product design. Qualified interns will work directly with an experienced Graphic Designer with creative direction by the Founder and/or Marketing Director to create meaningful and high quality digital and print graphics for its research convenenings, public education webinars, social media and website, consistent with the Institute's brand identity.

The Graphic Design Internship will foster the participants' skills in conceptualization, critical thinking, communication, organizational identity development, exhibit and display design, information graphics, promotional and presentation design, and publication design.

For the upcoming semester, all internships will be remote. Participants can choose to take on a full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (20 hours/week) role, to best balance their individual and educational needs. They receive a small stipend upon completing the internship.

The program also offers individualized mentoring to further accelerate intern's progress. Overall, the internships provide a variety of activities including assisting the Children and Screens' President and Founder, Dr. Pamela Hurst-Della Pietra, as well as staff members and experts in the realm of media and child health on a variety of projects. Interns perform the below duties and others as may be assigned.

Produce print and/or digital materials for research convenings, research reports, website, digital ads and social media.

Produce high quality materials in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Assist in organizing, monitoring, archiving, and maintaining files in Gsuite and Canva.

Design, improve upon and organize current PowerPoint slide decks.

Assist Children and Screens with its overall creative direction.

Design new landing pages for webinar marketing and registration on the website.

ELIGIBILITY
Minimum qualifications are as follows:
Currently enrolled in Graphic design, Interaction design, Digital Media or Product Design
Proven academic record (minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0)
Skilled In Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva
Proficient with layout design, typography, color coordination, and spatial reasoning
Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
Highly organized and fast-paced to support dynamic needs and overall design workflow.
Have the ability to work within a team and on a self-directed basis
Extraordinary work ethic, receptive to constructive feedback and committed to achieving excellence

Will Children and Screens provide travel expenses in addition to the stipend? (No.)

Will Children and Screens provide housing arrangements in addition to the stipend? (No.)

Can I do a shortened internship? (No, each internship requires a minimum of three months. Extension beyond this semester-long stint may be possible, subject to the availability of funds and satisfaction with work. No stipend will be awarded if the internship must be cut short, with the exception of illness.)
