The Smart Product Design Lab is headed by Prof. Ed Carryer.
- The lab occupies new space in the Thornton Center.
- The emphasis is on projects that integrate mechanical, software and electronic hardware design and teach students how to make appropriate trade-offs among these technologies.
- The Smart Products courses at the graduate and undergradute levels are consistently highly rated and have become a dominant element of the design curriculum.
- A course involving industry-sponsored projects has recently been added to the graduate program.
