JOB DESCRIPTION

Novariant is seeking an experienced software
designer to fill the position of Software
Engineer. The job will entail sustaining
software development and maintenance of GPS
receivers and various data analysis and support
software. Candidate should be comfortable
learning and extending a substantial existing
code base. Candidate must have good familiarity
with embedded real-time systems, digital signal
processing, hardware-software interaction,
software debugging via monitoring electrical
signals from hardware, object-oriented coding and
state machines, embedded graphical user
interfaces. Experience with real-time embedded systems and/or GPS a plus.

The primary tasks will include:
• Designing and implementing new
features on an established product, to simplify
product deployment, utilization, performance reporting, and maintenance.
• Debugging rare event bugs based on
field data collected through remote monitoring.
• Designing and implementing software
and methods to configure wireless TCP/IP networks.
• Implementing Graphical User
Interfaces features to improve product maintenance

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• BS or MS in Computer Science or
Engineering w/strong programming emphasis
• 3-5 years experience with software
design and writing code, network programming and
graphical user interface programming, revision control and bug tracking.
• Well-versed in C, C++, Java, TCP/IP, shell scripts, CVS, SVN
• Experience with various operating systems, Unix, Linux, Windows
• Experience debugging embedded
software through hands-on inspection and adjustment of hardware.
• Good knowledge of spread-spectrum
communications systems, wireless networks, 802.11
(WiFi), 802.16 (WiMAX), MESH networks, GPRS, GPS
• Familiarity with electronics lab
equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers.
