Thin Film Circuit Designer – Photovoltaics

POSITION PURPOSE:
The person will be responsible for designing thin
film photovoltaic devices to be incorporated into
solar power generation systems.
SCOPE:
The scope of this position encompasses all
aspects of modeling, design, optimization,
characterization, verification and proprietary
tool development for state-of-the-art thin film
photovoltaic devices based on Heliovolt’s CIGS
technology. This position is an opportunity to
establish oneself as a leader in design
architecture in the rapidly growing field of thin film photovoltaics.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of this individual
will be to produce the physical designs for all
Heliovolt thin film CIGS solar cells and
sub-modules. This will require the development of
device modeling and verification; circuit
modeling, simulation and optimization; design to
product specifications; and physical layout and
verification. This individual will need to meet
product development design schedules; while
maintaining thorough design documentation and
encoding design methodologies into proprietary design algorithms and tools.
EDUCATION:
Master or PhD in Physics or Applied Math
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
Experience designing and modeling thin film circuits
Strong mathematical background
Experience using modeling and simulation tools (SPICE, Mathematica, etc.)
General knowledge of thin film fabrication processes
PREFERRED
Thin film solar circuit design and modeling experience
Some travel
