Mechanical Product Design Engineer (Solar Panels)

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Mechanical Product Design Engineer will be responsible for the
design of new products and redesign of existing products using Solid
Works while working with engineers of various disciplines.
SCOPE:
The scope of this position encompasses full responsibility for
assuring optimal and reliable Mechanical designs for Heliovolt
products. This role will provide the opportunity to develop product
management experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities will also include the creation and maintenance of
models, drawings and bills of materials as well as product layout and
specifications. Designer will have strong organizational,
communication and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, think critically and work effectively
in a team-oriented, fast paced environment.
EDUCATION:
BSME or equivalent experience
Professional Engineer certification is a plus
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
Solid Works & PDM Works Experience
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with Tolerance Stack up and analysis
PREFERRED
Experienced Solar Panel designer
Direct experience with UL/TUV/NEC certification processes
Experience working with extruded aluminum parts
Knowledge of window or curtain wall design practices
Knowledge of residential/commercial building construction practices
Experience with cost modeling and cost reduction projects
An aptitude/interest in product management
Some travel required (<25%)
