Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Moore Nanotechnology Systems, located in Keene,
NH, one of six synergistic business units under the
PMT group, is one of the world leaders in
providing solutions and manufacturing ultra precision
equipment for the optics industry.
We have an immediate opening for a Senior
Mechanical Design Engineer with a BS in Mechanical
Engineering (MS preferred) who has a minimum of 5
years relevant experience in the field of precision
machine design.
Applicant must exhibit proven experience with:
• Precision machine design
• Ability to generate new machine concepts
• Producing designs from concept level to assembly prototypes
• Designing by utilizing 3D solid modeling (Solidworks preferred)
• Finite Element Analysis (COSMOS or similar)
• Hydrostatic and aerostatic bearing designs
• Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Linear motors, linear feedback systems
• Error budgets
• Component and material selection
• Manufacturing processes including machining,
sheet metal fabrication and castings
• Detailed drawing creation and BOM generation
Relevant position duties and responsibilities include:
• Understanding the product functionality and its operating principals
• Designing of precision machines through
applying fundamentals of precision design
• Performing static, dynamic and thermal analysis
• Generating and understanding machine tool error budgets
• Designing hydrostatic and aerostatic bearings as well as precision flexures
• Designing of assembly and subassembly, part
detailing, creating BOM and generating technical
and product relevant documentation
• Achieving the completion of all projects within budgets and deadlines
• Providing technical leadership to other
mechanical and electrical engineers as well as
assemblers involved in the same project. No direct reports
