JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: PRODUCT DESIGNER
REPORTS TO: VP Product Development/Design
The Product Designer follows a Product
Development process that involves research,
competitive analysis, ideation, concept
presentations, specifications, sample direction,
correspondence with manufacturers, prototype
evaluations, revisions, product sample and
production inspections, sales
presentations. Design and development duties
include knowledge of cut and sew processes,
molded parts, luggage handle and wheel assembly,
hardware and related accessories and materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manual and computer generated design and
illustration of luggage, laptop cases, accessories and related product
Development of accurate specification sheets
Product research
Project management
Sample inspections and reviews
Sample tracking
Overseas and internal correspondence
Maintenance of files
Quality inspection of product from production
Marketing support
Overseas travel 2 – 4 times per year
Domestic travel 2 – 4 times per year

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design.
Minimum three years of related product design
experience. Strong luggage preference.
Complete exposure to design and development process for quality, branded goods.
Enhanced design skills and experience: graphics,
sketching, computer line art, color direction and
sense for visual and verbal presentations.
Knowledge of cut and sew manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of molded parts manufacturing.
Experience working with Asian vendors.

Specific Skills
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in 2D software(eg. Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar)
Proficient in MS Powerpoint, Word and Excel
Excellent sketching and visualizing skills
Experience in 3D software a plus

Highly organized & flexible; able to prioritize
tasks & manage multiple projects, services &
vendors in different manners simultaneously
Capable of applying strategic thinking, product
design vision & good business practices in an
integrated whole to achieve desired outcomes
Understands product design process and production work flow efficiencies
Responds to requests for information; solicits information from others
Maintains open communication channels with all people & depts
Strong sense of ownership and self - motivation; no task too big or too small
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
