Recently VC funded, early stage energy start-up is looking for
driven, talented engineers. This position is for tenacious go-getters
who'd like to see their work have an immediate impact on a $2
Trillion global industry.
Position: Power supply lead engineer, energy harvesting and storage.
Term: Full time
Responsibilities
* Develop a power system for a network device operating under harsh conditions.
* Integrate energy harvesting from solar energy, multifrequency
magnetic fields, and other sources, long life rechargeable batteries
and primary cells for backup operation.
* Work with engineering management to identify power supply architecture
* Develop mController code for optimized performance
* As the lead engineer drive product conception through to
manufacturing production.
Preferred Past Experience
* 7 years experience in high efficiency power supply design.
* Minimum of 2 years as lead engineer for battery powered equipment.
* Demonstrated design and product experience with ultra long life
primary cell battery powered devices.
* Demonstrated design and product experience with long life
rechargeable battery powered devices.
* Production designs incorporating energy harvesting elements
including solar PV, inductive pickup, others.
* Familiarity with design cycle risk management
* Hands-on in the lab and the field, designing and executing
benchtop tests and field trials.
Training
* BS electrical engineering, MSEE preferred
* Commercial circuit simulation and design tools
Skills/other
* Strong customer orientation/ability to listen to, understand and
analyze customer requirements as offered by product management and customers
* Ability to design and build to specs, timeline, and budget
* Practiced and rigorous logical decision making
* Clear efficient communication in meetings and written documents
* Ability to quickly highlight the essence of both technical and logic problems
* Self-starter, able to bring products to market in dynamic start-up
environment
* Planning effectively within the uncertainties of novel technology development
* Make effective compromises between theory, business and practical concerns
* Comfortable documenting ideas and presenting in a rigorous peer
design review environment
* Multi-disciplinary mindset and ability to cross pollinate between
the disciplines of electronics, engineering, physics, manufacturing,
human factors and real-world considerations
