We are Medical Instrument Development Laboratories, Inc.
(<http://www.midlabs.com/>www.midlabs.com), a leader in development
and manufacture of specialized ophthalmic surgical devices. We are
an established revenue-generating company.
POSITION SUMMARY:
You are an intrinsically-motivated, hands-on, self-starter who will
develop and put in place manufacturing processes, equipment, and
custom tooling for testing, inspection, and packaging of ophthalmic
surgery components, such as vitrectomy probes and cannulas,
illumination/light fibers, laser probe assemblies, and other new
ophthalmic products.
You will work closely with the MID Labs COO, Principal Product
Engineer, Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Production teams, but will
be responsible for improving, inventing, and implementing new
tools/processes, including hands-on fabrication of simple tools and
fixtures, designing and specifying of equipment, procedure writing,
procuring, assembling, testing, troubleshooting, validation, etc.
As a flexible and adaptable team member, you will assume a variety of
responsibilities that will vary from week-to-week.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
8+ years hands on experience developing and putting in place high
volume manufacturing processes. Ideal candidate will have experience
with the manufacturing of disposable medical products and processes
including precision bonding, sterile packaging, and fiber optic
cleaving/polishing for laser surgery probes
Knowledgeable with GMP and ISO 13485 FDA applied to medical device
manufacturing.
Proven track record optimizing manufacturing process yield and throughput.
Experienced writing user friendly and highly illustrated
manufacturing/inspection procedures.
Experience using standard machine tools to fabricate simple tools and fixtures.
EDUCATION:
BS in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or
equivalent (Relevant experience will be considered for candidates
without degree).

ADDITIONAL SKILL AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Knowledgeable applying LEAN Manufacturing.
Fluent using SolidWorks.
Able to write IOQ/PQ or process validation documents.
Knowledge of CNC surface grinders.
Experienced troubleshooting cleaving / polishing of fiber optic
components to optimize energy efficiency and manufacturing yield.
Inherently detail-oriented, hands-on, fast learner.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems via scientific methodology and analysis.
Training and experience in use of standard hand tools, power tools,
and machine tools.
Knowledge and ability to use Excel, Word, & Powerpoint
Experience working with suppliers and vendors.
