Be part of an exciting new team at Bosch, the
number one automotive parts supplier in the
world, and help create the next generation of driver interaction systems!
Robert Bosch Car Multimedia is a global division
of the Bosch Group. Bosch CM creates smart
customer-oriented solutions for integrated
entertainment, navigation, telematics and driver
assistance functions for cars today (in fact, you
might be surprised to learn your instrument
panel, navigation system, etc. may be actually made by Bosch).

Our new innovation-focused team is a “creative
think tank” for the Car Multimedia division. Our
charter is to identify new technologies, quickly
assess their viability through rapid prototyping
and make recommendations to senior product
leadership based on our findings, to help develop
the next generation systems for tomorrow. This
might include gesture-based inputs, head-up displays, augmented reality, etc.
•Do you love working with new technologies and
ideas to develop products (hardware, software and
applications) that address emerging consumer needs?
•Are you a visionary with the right balance of
creativity, initiative and drive to move things
quickly from concept to completion?
•Are you passionate about cars?
•Do you have a strong appreciation and instincts
for good user experiences, and background in user
experience design and usability testing?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, we would like to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
•Help evaluate new technologies such as from
start-ups, including how usable they are, and how
these technologies could be applied to driver and passenger experiences
•Help create low-cost simulation cockpits to
evaluate and test these technologies (including
physical, not virtual, demonstrators – hands-on work!)
•Evaluate the technologies for usability issues,
solving these problems as possible, or simply
recognizing and communicating discovered limitations
•Arrange usability tests of these technologies
with test subjects, screening appropriate people,
scheduling them, and (depending on experience)
perhaps performing the usability tests and reporting results

Qualifications:

Required:
•A bachelors degree in HCI, UX, or another
relevant discipline and/or work experience in user experience discipline
•Good instincts and abilities for creating exceptional user experiences
•Strong attention to detail, and a creative,
open-minded, persistent and highly-collaborative mindset
•Willingness to "wear multiple hats" and do
different UX-related tasks in a small team environment
•Good knowledge of automobiles and features in them
•Ability to take direction, but still be
self-driven and comfortable communicating ideas and points of view
•A portfolio of previous work for discussion

Preferred:
•A passion for cars and all-things automotive
•Prior experience in a startup-style environment
(although at Bosch we combine this with the
resources and financial backing of a large stable company)
•Experience and proficiency at administering
usability tests and writing test scripts

Note: This position has the option to be in
Leonberg, Germany for a period before being in Palo Alto, California
