Sr. Mechanical/Tracker Engineer

QBotix, Inc. is the first company to bring
robotics to the operation of solar power plants.
We are a small start up backed by the largest
Tier-1 Silicon Valley VC and with multiple
Fortune 50 customers bringing to the market dual
axis tracking at the cost of single axis.

About This Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated
Sr. Tracker Engineer to join our Engineering
Team, specifically the Structures Group. This is
a senior role where responsibilities include:
· Design of Solar Tracking Systems
· Design of structural weldments, assemblies, castings, and forgings
· Design of bolted joints and other fastening systems
· Selection of mechanical components such
as slew drives, linear actuators, and bearings
· Creation and management of highly detailed and functional 3D models
· Creation and management of detail drawings to a superior standard
· Thorough engineering analysis and
calculations supporting design decisions

A highly qualified candidate will have/do:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, MS Preferred
• 5-10 years engineering experience, focus
on Solar Trackers, structural and dynamic systems
• Fundamental Design Skills: statics,
dynamics, mechanics, material selection,
tolerance analysis, drafting, GD&T expertise
• Analytical skills: derive and solve
governing equations for static and dynamic systems
• Demonstrable design to cost skills
• Fluent in MathCad, Python a plus
• Superior 3D modeling fundamentals, fluent in Inventor, SolidWorks
• Superior FEA skills (Inventor Simulation or ANSYS)
• Design of Experiments and analysis of
empirical data to draw meaningful design direction
• Contribute to design discussions
concerning various aspects of the product
• Compilation of concise and coherent reports and presentations
• Communication with organizational at all levels
• Mentor junior engineers, successfully
lead a small team during the development process
• Ability to travel to support the design,
testing, and installation of products in both
national and international locations
• Expertise with MS Office - Excel, Word, Powerpoint
• Many administrative functions will be required, count on it
