Job Title: Manager Control Systems
The Company:
NeoGuide Systems is medical device startup
company in San Jose, CA. We are developing
flexible robotic endoscopes that will
revolutionize the field of medicine. NeoGuide's
initial products will address the NOTES market.
Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery
(NOTES). NOTES is a breakthrough surgical
technique that allows procedures to be conducted
using the body’s natural orifices – such as the
mouth, anus and vagina – as entry points,
minimizing the pain, scarring, recovery time and
complications found with open and laparoscopic
procedures, NeoGuide is a small, venture-funded
developer of cutting-edge medical devices, in
search of dynamic and enthusiastic team members to contribute to its success.
Job Description:
The position is for a Manager Control Systems
that will be responsible for leading the control
system group in the design and development of
robotic control algorithms and system integration
for the NeoGuide endoscope system. The ideal
candidate will have previous experience working
in multi-disciplinary teams on complex
electro-mechanical systems and a strong academic
background in robotics and control systems. The
position is for a dynamic, hands-on engineer who
can work well as part of a larger team.
Responsibilities:
• Functionally manage the Control Systems department
• Design, develop and test robotic
control algorithms for a class II medical device
• Work with Software Engineering to embed these robotic algorithms
• Lead systems integration efforts
incorporating mechanical and electrical modifications into the system
• Develop software and algorithms for robot calibration
• Design, test and document in
accordance with medical design control regulations
• Develop projects from prototype stage through to manufacture
• Work directly with other team
members, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
• Interface with physicians to obtain user feedback
Qualifications:
• MS or PhD in Engineering with a concentration in Control Systems
• Hands on experience with path planning and optimization algorithms
• Over 10 years experience designing
and integrating complex electro-mechanical systems
• Strong analytic & problem solving skills
• C and C++ programming
• Matlab development
• Good oral & written communication skills
• Experience with FDA regulations and
medical device design controls a plus
• Experience in start-up environment a plus
