1 MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- To provide expert theoretical and practical
Multibody Dynamic Analysis services to the
Chassis and Powertrain Engineering Departments.

2 POSITION IN ORGANISATION
- Reports to a Functional Manager who in-turn reports to a Head of Department.
- Normally has no subordinates but may be
required to direct Technicians and to supervise Graduates.
- Collaborates closely with other Analysts,
Engineers & Senior Engineers, particularly those
who are responsible for the design and
development of steering and suspension systems.

3 SCOPE OF JOB
- Create, correlate and maintain models to
support vehicle design and development.
- Develop and maintain specialist technical knowledge / capability.
- Define and plan own work and manage outsourced work.
- Documentation and reporting.
- Integration and expansion of analysis services.
- Provide help and guidance to engineers / less experienced staff.

4 DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
- Accountable for identifying any issue or risk
affecting analysis delivery, for recommending
remedial action, for ensuring this is visible and
understood by the Functional Manager and Head of
Department, and that appropriate action is taken.
- Evaluates technical capability of suppliers or
contractors and makes recommendations on their selection.

5 QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline; or relevant experience.
- Preferably Chartered Engineer

6 EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrable experience as a senior Multibody
Vehicle Dynamics Analyst, preferably within an
Automotive OEM, Consultancy or Tier 1 supplier.
- Proficient user of ADAMS/Car/View.
- Familiar with Matlab/Simulink.
- Capable of macro writing in ADAMS and Excel.

DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create and maintain models to support vehicle design and development (50%)
a) Build and maintain ADAMS/Car and ADAMS/View models of all Bentley vehicles
b) Validate models by correlating results with
rig test and objective measurements
c) Use the models to provide design and development guidance and solve problems
2. Develop and maintain specialist technical knowledge / capability (10%)
a) Maintain an in-depth knowledge steering,
suspension, powertrain and whole vehicle
modelling using the ADAMS suite of software by
identifying and attending suitable training
courses, seminars, and conferences, reading
technical literature, and maintaining a network
of contacts within the VW Group and automotive industry.
b) Expand Bentley’s capability in Multibody
Dynamic analysis by identifying and evaluating new techniques and tools.
3. Define and plan own work and manage outsourced work (10%)
a) Define and plan own workload for approval by Functional Manager
b) Deliver work to deadlines agreed with internal customers
c) Manage any outsourced work in the same technical area
4. Documentation and reporting (10%)
a) Timely completion of technical reports
b) Present analysis results to customers at an
appropriate level of technical detail
c) Accurate documentation of model history and sources of technical data
d) Archive details of each analysis job for
traceability and future continuation
5. Integration and expansion of analysis services
a) Investigate ways to improve the design process
by integrating Multibody Dynamic analysis tools
with other analysis software and techniques
b) Raise awareness of Multibody Dynamic analysis
services across the business by identifying other
internal customers and accepting chargeable work from them
c) Build links with related areas in other
departments to identify possible collaborative work of mutual benefit
6. Provide help and guidance to engineers / less experienced staff
a) Assist/coach less experienced staff in all aspects of 1 – 5 above
