Simpirica Spine is a VC-backed Bay Area medical device company. We
seek to improve quality of life for chronic back pain patients with
novel devices that relieve pain and restore function of the
spine. We are are seeking two summer interns to focus on design and
pre-clinical testing.

Design Internship:
You will work with the design team to prepare the product and
surgical tools for production manufacturing while also developing
solutions for future product generations. Desired skills and
experience include:
- SolidWorks proficiency, including drawings and assemblies
- Familiarity and experience with orthopedic devices (especially
devices for spine)
- Experience creating production-level drawings (including tolerances and GD&T)
- Familiarity with machining manufacturing processes

Product Testing Internship:
You will develop, execute and document tests to ensure safety and
reliability of the product. These will include cyclic fatigue and
wear tests; cadaveric biomechanical tests; and exploratory R/D
testing for product development. Testing will be performed both in
Simpirica's lab facilities and external vendors. Desired skill and
experience include:
- Preparing test protocols and reports
- Working with test standards (e.g. ASTM, ISO)
- Designing test fixtures
- Interaction with external vendors/suppliers
- Medical device industry experience
