Product Design Engineer: Design Validation

Apple is currently seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer that
will provide support to design, engineering, prototyping and
validation activities for all hardware product lines.

As a member of a cross-functional design team at Apple, you will help
create the next generation of the world's finest hardware devices.
You will conceive, design, and bring into production products that
will re-define the user experience. You will work closely with many
different cross-functional teams including Industrial Design,
Hardware Engineering, Packaging, Safety, and Reliability. Potential
opportunity to support prototype activities in Asia.

Key Qualifications

    * Product design background
    * Hands on tinkerer
    * Ability to work in team-based environment.
    * Self-motivating & resourceful
    * Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use
statistical tools and techniques.
    * Experience with Matlab
    * Experience with a 3D Cad tools (i.e. Uni-graphics Preferred,
ProE/ Solid-works ok)
    * Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment.

Description

Desired or "nice to have" experience in any of the following:

* Prior experience in consumer electronics
* System Modeling
* Mechantronics Concentration with Matlab Background
* Objective C
* Robotics Exposure
* Experience with component modules (LCD assemblies, batteries,
camera modules, Keyboards etc.)
* Controls background
* Sensors, Strain Gauge or telemetry exposure
* Ability in plastic and metal part design.
* Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for
Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional
dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing.
* Handheld, portable and/or hardware experience.
* Integration of wireless antenna (GSM, GPS, Wifi) into mechanical enclosures.
* Design of audio subsystems (microphone, speaker, receiver).
* Test development
* Shock & Vibration design environments
* Materials testing and analysis

Education

BS or MS or PHD in Mechanical Engineering / Mechantronic
