Job Title: Senior Engineer / Project Manager, Research and Development

Reports To: Director, Research & Development (Devices)

Position Summary:
Miramar Labs (www.miramarlabs.com), an early commercial stage medical
device start-up located in Sunnyvale, is seeking a hands-on Sr. R&D
Engineer or Project Manager. In 2012 Miramar launched its first
microwave based dermatologic device in the US. Since late 2013 the
R&D team has renewed focus on development of novel devices to treat
unmet needs in dermatology.

The position requires creative thinking and application of sound
engineering principles in order to contribute to next generation
device design and development. The candidate should be a strong
individual contributor and should also have previous experience
managing direct reports. Responsibilities will include design of
devices which include machined parts, injection molded parts and
electromechanical assemblies, prototyping of devices, developing new
tools and fixtures, and ensuring projects stay on schedule for
Miramar to bring new products to market. Proficiency with SolidWorks
and competency in the machine shop are desirable. Basic knowledge of
electronics and experience with MatLab, Labview or other programming
languages is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications / Required Competencies:
BS or MS with 10 years of engineering experience (ME degree
preferred) Minimum of 5 years' experience in medical device
development Project management experience including management of
direct reports Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals Knowledge
of electronics and electromechanical systems

Highly Desirable:
Proficiency with SolidWorks
Proficiency in the machine shop (mill and lathe) Experience with
software programming

Essential Functions:
. Work with engineers and technicians to complete assigned tasks and
projects including creating working prototypes, specifications, and
documentation for new products or product revisions . Plan and
complete projects (including product enhancements) in an aggressive
manner consistent with corporate objectives . Maintain accurate
documentation of concepts, designs, drawings and processes . Present
technical data in design review meetings . Identify and oversee
outside vendors and consultants as required . Contribute to the
intellectual property position of the company via invention and
patent applications . Maintain a professional, credible image with
key physicians, consultants, vendors and co-workers . Provide
engineering and technical support of products released to the field .
Work in compliance with quality systems, including design control and
document control, in coordination with the Quality Assurance and
Manufacturing functions . Perform other duties as assigned
