APMT Software Engineer

Advanced Polymer Monitoring Technologies, Inc.
(APMT) is a New Orleans based start up company
commercializing patented technology in polymer
reaction monitoring and control. APMT is seeking
an enthusiastic and highly motivated full-time
software engineer to focus on software design and
development, maintenance and modification of
existing software code (C++, QT, Visual Basic,
MSSQL, MySQL, others), maintenance of APMT
knowledge base and IT functions, interface with
the rest of the engineering team on the software
integration with the rest of the product,
participation in product design and field support
of software operating at customer facilities and
various other responsibilities for development of
several proprietary APMT technologies. The
software engineer will work closely with the
other members of APMTā€™s development team and
consultants. APMT was founded in March 2012 and
has recently been expanding its team, adding 3
full-time engineers since July 2013. This is a

start up where you will have a lot of
responsibility and will grow professionally very
quickly, all while bringing several exciting new
technologies to market that will make a global
impact in a diverse range of industries.

APMT Software Engineer's primary responsibilities
include, but are not limited to the following:
- Determines operational feasibility by
evaluating analysis, problem definition,
requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
- Documents and demonstrates solutions by
developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts,
diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
- Prepares and installs solutions by determining
and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
- Improves operations by conducting systems
analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
- Obtains and licenses software by obtaining
required information from vendors; recommending
purchases; testing and approving products.
- Updates job knowledge by studying
state-of-the-art development tools, programming
techniques, and computing equipment;
participating in educational opportunities;
reading professional publications; maintaining
personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Provides information by collecting, analyzing,
and summarizing development and service issues.
- Develops software solutions by studying
information needs; conferring with users and
other APMT team members; studying systems flow,
data usage, and work processes; investigating
problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
- Record day to day activities including notes,
experiments, designs, prototypes, etc. in the APMT database
- Manage APMT information technology systems and security
- Manage APMT knowledge base
- Work with the rest of the APMT team on design and prototyping of technologies
- Design and prototyping of new system components
- Hands-on work to carry out experiments and
tests on various system components where
applicable to software and data handling are needed
- Interface with APMT consultants on automation,
programming and other design aspects
- Interface with customers and assist with troubleshooting, where required
- Other tasks as assigned by the Chief Technical
Officer or other management of the Company

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- B.S. or M.S. in computer science or related discipline
- C++ and SQL programming skills and ability to
learn and expand your programming skillset
- General programming skills
- Familiarity with software design and documentation
- Software debugging and testing
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Software development fundamentals in modular
software design for future expandability
- Demonstrated proficiency in analytical problem
solving, good organization skills, and the
ability to work on a wide variety of projects
simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal
direction with the ability to prioritize effort

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong mathematical or data analysis background
- Familiarity with QT and Git
- Familiarity with Python
- Familiarity with Java
- Knowledge of OPC
- Some knowledge of general automation and PLC
programming for analysis software interface
- Knowledge of computers, circuits and other computer hardware
- Familiarity with hardware interface and data collection
- Experience developing and/or managing intellectual property
- Experience with project management and reporting
- Knowledge of chemical process measurement and
control i.e. instrumentation, sensors and analyzers
- Background knowledge of polymer synthesis and polymer reaction processes
- Experience with process analytical instrumentation

Compensation:
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Performance bonuses and/or stock options will be offered
