Primary Function of Position:

Â

This position will play a lead technical role in
developing new surgical robot instrumentation.Â
 The senior engineer will function as a key
member of a team that quickly conceptualizes new
mechanical designs, develops them, and brings
them to market. In that role, the senior engineer
will assist with project management and
documentation as well as interface with vendors
and manufacturing to facilitate process and test
development. The successful candidate must excel
in a high-energy team environment and be capable
of making sound decisions when faced with the
time pressures and incomplete information typical of new product development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Â

Gathering, interpreting and organizing clinical customer input for new designs

Generation, design and development of new device
concepts focused on those needs

Concept documentation, preparation and review of
patent submissions, and support for regulatory submissions

Detailed prototype design, build, test, and iteration

Design for cost and manufacturability including vendor selection and management

Generation of formal design documentation,
review, and control (e.g. design reviews, ECOs, mechanical drawings, etc.)

Project planning and management

Manufacturing transition and support

Skill/Job Requirements:

Â

BSME required, MSME preferred

Minimum 7 years experience designing commercial mechanical products

Passion for design and rapid iteration

Hands-on engineering with the proven ability to work well in a team environment

Proficiency using CAD to design mechanisms; SolidWorks preferred

Comfortable with all phases of the product
development lifecycle including design,
implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer

Strength in design analysis

Good communication and documentation skills

Experience leading small engineering teams and mentoring other engineers

Comfortable operating machine shop equipment

Knowledge of ISO requirements and GMP
guidelines. Experience with FDA regulations and
medical device design control a strong plus

Process development and assembly instructions for small part mechanisms

Familiarity with cleaning and sterilization
processes and designing for sterilization
