ABOUT HALF MOON MEDICAL
Half Moon Medical is an early stage medical
device start-up out of The Foundry, the Bay
Area’s premier medical device company incubator.
Half Moon Medical is developing a novel catheter based cardiac implant.

POSITION SUMMARY
Half Moon Medical is seeking a strong medical
device engineer with experience in cardiac
catheter and delivery system design. This
engineer will lead the development of a complex
steerable system, including catheters, handle
mechanisms, and user interface design and
development. The engineer will be required to
guide and mentor other engineers and technicians,
as well as work with cross functional team
members and various vendors and suppliers. The
engineer should be highly motivated with a solid
track record of developing multiple delivery
systems from early stage R&D through to
commercial launch. The engineer should be able to
conceptualize, design and build prototypes in
response to bench testing, pre-clinical evaluations and end user feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS
· 10+ years medical device experience
· 6+ years catheter design experience
(including steerable catheters and handle mechanisms)
· Experience working under quality systems
designed to meet governmental regulations such as
FDA QSR, ISO 13485, and the MDD
· Familiar with Design Control procedures and requirements
· Technical skills: Strong CAD skills,
hands on prototyping skills, mechanism design,
strong knowledge of catheter materials (Pebax,
Nylon, PTFE, PEEK, FEP etc), strong knowledge of
multi lumen catheter design and fabrication
processes (braiding, coiling, steer wires, marker band swaging, tipping, etc)
· Strong clinical and anatomical
understanding; ability to translate these factors
into engineering design and testing requirements
· Verification and validation testing experience
· Experience participating in pre-clinical
and clinical studies, preferably with operating
room experience in interventional procedures
· Self-Starter: Able to solve problems and
challenges with little direction
· Ability to work in a fast paced product development environment

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
