Position: Full Time Mechatronics Teacher, grades K-8

Location: St.Raymond School, Menlo Park, Ca

Description:

Teaches Mechatronics content and workplace skills to Kindergarten through 8th grade students at St.Raymond School.Students learn to assemble, install, operate, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment used in industry and manufacturing. Students will also learn the importance of an OS (operating system) and its role in the computer. Incorporate coding helps students gain skills such as sequencing, problem solving, math concepts, as well as perseverance so that they will become better readers, writers, and mathematicians

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Meets and instructs the students in the Mechatronics Lab.

· Develops and maintains the physical environment of the classroom that is conducive to effective learning.

· Applies knowledge of curriculum and specialized instructional strategies to improve student knowledge, skills and performance.

· Prepares for each class by designing cohesive lesson plans.

· Demonstrates mastery of the content area.

· Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

· Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet student needs.

· Maintains order within the classroom setting by utilizing best practices in classroom management.

· Supervises students in non-classroom time (before school, after school, student activities, fire drills).

· Attends and participates in faculty and department meetings.

· Communicates regularly with parents.

· Works closely with the middle school Mechatronics teacher to provide a comprehensive K-8 curriculum.

· Reports to Vice Principal, Director of Technology and supports teacher technology needs and requests.

· Collaborates with other teachers to develop and implement cross curricular activities to enhance learning.

· Teaches process skills: Basic block Coding, 3-D printing, K’Nex Robotics, Raspberry Pi configuration, Code.org, Tinkercad, Lego Edu, Python, fabrication, and/or operation of robotic/mechatronic devices.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree/ Teaching Credential not required, but preferred

· Experience with elementary children.

· Knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction, learning theory and teaching methodologies.

· Working skill in Tinkercad, 3-dimensional printing, electrical hand/power tools, Mac and PC proficient

· Block programming, scratch

· STEM background (preferred)

· Demonstrate ability to develop instructional goals for students.

· Demonstrate ability to prepare and monitor budget.

· Ability to collaborate with other faculty members.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $51,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
