Hello!

I am Adrit, and I currently manage the Scanning Systems team at Aeva. I graduated from Stanford (MS) in 2011 and did both 218 and 310. We are growing our team and are looking for someone with the skillset and experience listed below. Please see the job posting<https://jobs.lever.co/aeva/5dd80cd6-fdd4-437d-96b1-664a16a95133>. You can send your resume directly to me: adrit_at_aeva.ai<mailto:adrit@aeva.ai> or apply through the portal.

Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.

The Scanning Systems team develops electro-mechanical & optical systems that enable our lidars to scan the world. The team is multidisciplinary and works on complex problems that require high precision and high reliability – pushing the limits of materials, controls, and manufacturing.

Role Overview:
We are looking for an engineer with knowledge about mechatronics (encoders, microcontrollers, motors) along with strong mechanical design abilities. You will be responsible for evaluation and bring up of alternate actuators for our lidars, as well as design of mechanical components that interface with those actuators. You will be spending time on the bench with code, oscilloscopes and probes as well as designing parts, making drawings and getting them manufactured and tested. This is a multi-disciplinary role with significant opportunities for growth.
What you'll be doing :
â€¢ Developing / evaluating alternate solutions to current electro-mechanical systems that include motors, encoders, optics and control systems.
â€¢ Designing, creating drawings, getting prototypes made of mechanical components that interface with the actuators including optical components.
â€¢ Taking the parts / sub-systems through qualification and testing and into production
â€¢ Working with our international supply base on assembly DFM (design for manufacturability) as well as failure analysis and corrective actions
â€¢ Working cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, optical, controls and embedded team members
â€¢ Occasional travel, including international travel, might be required.

What you have:
                                Technical:
â€¢ 1-4 years of experience (or equivalent) in working with electromechanical systems with knowledge on how microcontrollers, encoders and motors work.
â€¢ Knowledge of how to design parts made by CNC, injection molding, stamping etc.
â€¢ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar or work experience satisfying job requirements.
â€¢ Master’s level coursework in mechatronics or embedded systems if you do not have prior work experience.

                                Personality:
â€¢ Self-driven with ability to take complete ownership of projects
â€¢ Strong communication skills to work cross functionally and with vendors
â€¢ Ability to juggle multiple projects
                                â€¢ Enjoy a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Nice to have:
â€¢ Experience with servo / motor feedback control systems
â€¢ Experience with designing and shipping high volume manufactured parts
â€¢ Experience with working in automotive, medical or aerospace industries

What's in it for you:
â€¢ Be part of an early start-up that's backed by industry-leading venture capitalists
â€¢ Very competitive compensation and meaningful equity!
â€¢ Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more!
â€¢ Unlimited PTO: Take all the time you need
â€¢ Paid lunches, ping pong tournaments, and fun team off-sites!

Thank you,

Adrit Lath
