Subject: Personal Robotics Program at Willow Garage

The energy and drive of a startup, the freedom of a research lab

Willow Garage is a new type of research lab that gives employees a
unique opportunity to work closely on small teams to create and launch
world-changing companies, but without the short-term financial
pressures of a traditional incubator.

The Personal Robotics program at Willow Garage is looking for
exceptional programmers who have deep experience in applying
theoretical advances to the real world. We are building a hardware
and software platform (think Rosie the robot from the Jetsons) to
change the way robotics research and development is done, by
integrating state of the art mechanical, electrical, and software
systems into a commonly available platform, and we need your help if
you are world-class in at least one of:

  *Vision processing
  *Localization, navigation, and mapping
  *Robotic manipulation
  *Control theory, multi-dof mechanism control
  *Machine learning
*Databases (we're not looking for experience using commercially
available databases)
  *Physical simulation
  *Distributed systems
  *Software reliability

Requirements:
*BS in CS or EE (or equivalent)
*2 years developing production-level software in a team environment
*Experience implementing techniques from one of the depth areas above
in real-world systems

Preferred:
*MS or PhD in CS, EE, ME, or Aero-Astro
  *Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems
  *Open-source development experience

Applicants should email a resume, cover letter and portfolio if
available to jobs@willowgarage.com

We look forward to hearing from you,

Keenan Wyrobek & Eric Berger (Stanford ME and CS Alumni respectively)

Co-Directors, Personal Robotics Platform Program, Willow Garage

PS Please circulate to anyone you think might be interested in
joining our effort.
