MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Wildcat Discovery Technologies is a start-up company located in San
Diego, California focused on the discovery of advanced materials for
lithium-ion batteries. Using our state-of-the-art high throughput
discovery workflows Wildcat can synthesize and test over 1,000
electrode materials per week, each fully formulated and tested in
actual cells. Through collaborations with battery industry leaders
and our own independent programs, Wildcat has several promising
discovery projects targeting next generation battery technology.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Wildcat is seeking an outstanding mechanical engineer to join our
team developing cutting edge high throughput automation used for the
discovery of next generation batteries. This position will work
closely with Wildcat scientists and engineers on all aspects of the
discovery process. As an early-stage hire, the successful
candidate(s) will play a significant and influential role in the
company. The position is ideally suited to those with zero to five
years of experience.

Key responsibilities include:

- Design, develop, implement and test mechanical devices/machines for
use in high throughput laboratory automation.

- Work with Wildcat's manufacturing group to manufacture and assemble
new equipment.

- Develop software and procedures to control automated lab equipment.

- Work with Wildcat's scientists to improve existing laboratory
equipment and processes.

- Prepare and deliver presentations and reports at internal technical meetings.

Requirements include:

- A BS or MS in engineering or equivalent (Mechanical Engineering is
preferred).

- Some exposure to 3D CAD modeling. Advanced CAD experience (Pro/E
preferred), and computer analysis experience, such as finite element
analysis, is highly desirable.

- Experience with structured language computer programming (C, C++,
Java, HTML, etc.). Experience with LabView is a plus.

- Proven track record of innovation, problem solving and successful
technical results. Demonstrated exceptional work ethic. Be
self-motivated and a team player, ready for the fast pace and high
expectations of a start-up company.

- Strong interests, experience or hobbies related to computers,
machine fabrication or maintenance, or parts fabrications would be
desirable (RC boats or cars, motorcycles, cars, computers, machine
shop skills, or any mechanical design experience). This is a hands-on job.
