Senior Mechanical Engineer/Product manager--gaming company/SF

Our client, a very cool gaming company located in
SF designs, develops and markets gaming
accessories. They make ergonomic, cosmetic
headsets, along with other cool gaming
accessories. The company employs 20 people in its
San Francisco and Shenzhen office and serves as
its own marketer and retailer, serving gamers
worldwide. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical
Engineer to add to their team. Mechanical Design
Engineers work with a wide variety of
cross-functional disciplines from ID, EE, Marketing, ODM’s and more.

This position requires familiarity with the full
design cycle for high volume Consumer Electronics
products employing plastics and sheet metal, from
brainstorming through tooling, into production.
Strong technical design and analysis capabilities
are also required. Must have worked with ID
firms, such as Frog, Ammo, Apple, Lunar, Fuse, or IDEO.

Specific Duties include:

• Based on Marketing requirements,
help define and develop product solutions

• Create a project schedule and manage project activities

• Create project and technical reports as required

• Identify and perform any engineering required

• Work independently to create detail design

• Help select and support suppliers
for prototyping, tooling and production

• Test and evaluate prototypes, tooling and first articles

• Manage communications with Asia Suppliers


         • BSME required, MSME desirable.
         • 5 to 8 years of design, technical project management desirable.
         • Good working knowledge of design using
both injection molded plastics and sheet metal
         • High volume, injection molded plastics
for highly cosmetic consumer electronics experience is a must.
         • Must have worked with ID firms, such
as Frog, Ammo, Apple, Lunar, Fuse, IDEO
         • At least one full product development
cycle of high volume, tooled product.
         • 3-D CAD skills (ProE).
         • Creative thinking.
         • Product genesis and design.
         • Engineering analysis, including
strength of materials, tolerance analysis, FEA, and acoustics.
         • Familiarity with regulatory agency
requirements for electronic products.
         • Design for manufacturability, high and low volume.
         • Good verbal and written communication.
         • Good interpersonal and people management skills.
         • Able to successfully negotiate with
consultants, suppliers and team members.
         • Able to perform hands-on shop and lab work.
