position as associate professor in mechanical
engineering design. Please find below the text of the vacancy.

This is a tenure track position, i.e. a permanent
position with the possibility for future
promotion to full professor, and excellent conditions.

The University of Luxembourg founded in 2003, is
a multilingual university in a multilingual
country. Courses are taught in one (or more) of
the following three languages: English, French
and German. The university has currently already

mechanical engineering and design (m/f)

Your Role
„h Participate in strengthening the research
activities of the engineering group especially in the field of
mechanical construction and design.
„h Collaborate with a full professor and a lecturer for construction and design
„h Deepen and intensify the cooperation with
industrial and scientific partners in this technological area
„h Give lectures in mechanical engineering
design, machine elements at Bachelor and Master level
There is a considerable freedom in selecting the
research focus. The successful candidate is expected to develop an
independent, externally funded research
programme, to teach mechanical design engineering and design at Bachelor
and Master level, to develop new specialised
courses, to supervise research, and to be an active member of the
Research Unit and the Faculty.
Your profile
„h PhD in Mechanical Engineering Science (core
competence in mechanical construction and design)
„h A least 3 years professional experience, preferably in industry
„h Experience in oil hydraulics and dynamics are an asset
„h An outstanding research record in the respective field
While a strong background in mechanical
engineering and design is necessary, applications covering a wide range of
research areas can be submitted, including for
example sound and acoustics, oil-hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics
(like joining, assembly, robot human interaction)
and bionics. Applications with original research areas and novel
visions of research are of particular interest. A
strong publication record in the respective field is required.
The University of Luxembourg is set in a
multilingual context. It is desired that the successful candidates will have a
working knowledge in addition to English in at
least one of the following languages: French and German. However, it
is also possible to obtain proficiency in a
second language after being hired as the University provides access to
language classes. A basic knowledge of French has
to be acquired during the first two years.
