Mechatronics Background from all disciplines are encouraged to apply

earthmine inc
(<http://www.earthmine.com>http://www.earthmine.com)
is a growing street-level 3D mapping company
based in Berkeley, California. Our technology
exists at the interface of the physical and
informational realms, mixing the application of
electrical, mechanical, and embedded systems
engineering with software technology for image
processing and internet distribution.

The Electrical Engineer is an entry level
position offering the opportunity to grow into a
major role in the evolution of earthmine’s
vehicle based capture system. Key areas of
responsibility will include PCB design, power
system and wiring harnesses, embedded systems
programming, and interacting with suppliers. You
will have the opportunity to wear many hats as
you join a small but growing team. Although
significant experience in industry is not
essential for this role, some practical skills
are necessary, so please be prepared to explain
how projects, internships, or lab time have prepared you.

Earthmine employs a mechatronics engineering
approach in the development of its capture
systems, so candidates who show a strong tendency
towards interdisciplinary work will receive
particular consideration. A successful candidate
could compensate for some weakness in electrical
engineering skills with a strong mechanical
engineering or software background.

Minimum B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or
Related Field, 0-2 Years Experience

Key Skills Include-

* Schematic Capture and Board Layout. PCB’s will
support 8-bit microcontrollers, DC power
distribution, motor control, and some USB. Eagle PCB preferred.
* Microcontroller Programming. Primarily Atmel AVR with gcc
* Interfacing custom peripherals with x86 systems
running Linux. Writing low level C code to
provide application developers an easy interface
to custom peripherals via RS232, RS485, and USB.
* Power Systems and Cabling. Specify components, design wire harnesses.
* Test and Debug. Assembly prototype PCB’s. Debug
complex interdisciplinary systems.
* Manage relationships with Vendors and Service
Providers. Most work will immediately go into low volume series production.
* Good Organizational and Communication Skills.

Nice to Have –

*Mechanical Design – Solidworks or other mechanical CAD, product design skills

This is a full time position with benefits,
ideally starting in early June. Please email
resume in doc or PDF form with cover letter to careers@earthmine.com
