Job Title: Packaging Designer
Description: Speck is a small, fast-growing specialty products company and
is seeking a self motivated, experienced packaging designer to fill a full
time position. We are located in downtown Palo Alto and offer a fun,
friendly but fast-paced environment in which to work.
This key member of our marketing team will be responsible for editing and
designing packaging projects. The position may also include work on
brochures, flyers, and other launch support material. The successful
candidate must be able to work on several jobs simultaneously, meet
deadlines, and track project status and budgets. This position requires a
Bachelors degree in marketing or graphic design with a minimum of 3 years
experience as a graphic designer with consumer packaging experience in a
Retail or Consumer Electronics Company. The ideal individual must have
thorough knowledge of print production. The successful candidate should be
self-motivated and self-directed, as well as be able to work as a team
member, both on the same team and outside of the team. Ability to
troubleshoot and analyze complex problems. Ability to multi-task and meet
deadlines.
Qualifications:
Have a strong visual design background with experience in consumer packaging
Have a structural design background and ability to design both the graphic
and structure components of the companys packaging
Ability to design and deliver press-ready artwork for product packaging
(retail boxes, CD labels, rebates, and stickers) and marketing collateral
(advertisements, sales sheets, product catalogs, product mock ups,
tradeshow and booth signage).
Excellent information design candidate must have the ability to
conceptualize and articulate solutions and possess excellent communication
(written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Must be able to wear many hats, and accept a full range of responsibilities
and roles.
Adaptable, flexible and accountability to meet tight deadlines and achieve
results in a fast moving, dynamic environment, yet create and design cost
effective packaging
Skills and Experience:
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite 2 (Photoshop, illustrator, InDesign)
Basic CAD skills, Pro E or Solid Works experience a plus
Packaging experience and strong understanding/knowledge of Consumer
Electronics industry
Experience working with overseas suppliers a plus
