The Engineers Without Borders (SF Professionals Chapter) Appropriate
Technology Design Team and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab have developed a
fuel-efficient cook stove for refugees in Darfur, Sudan. We have an immediate
opening for an engineer in Darfur to direct the scale-up of local
manufacturing of these light metal stoves. This short-term position is with
CHF-International's VIP program and starts in July. It is for 3 months.
Tasks include:
1) scaling up the existing production facility to maximize production rate
2) developing a robust quality control system using local resources
3) interfacing with the ongoing stove dissemination and financing programs
All travel, vaccinations, and lodging are covered, and a stipend is included.
