UX & INTERACTION DESIGNER SUMMER INTERN DESCRIPTION
Despite being humble and modest about your skills, you are a talented
designer constantly
seeking to create the best user experience throughout every project
you touch. You have a
critical eye towards the current state, you rarely accept the status
quo (unless of course, it’s
awesome as is), and you are always dreaming up how things can be
better for people. All in
all, you truly believe that the best user experience begins with the
people you are designing
for. You continuously attempt to understand their needs so you can
make their lives better.
At the end of the day, you get your work done in a clean, focused, and
inspiring way.
At Capital One Labs, you will have the rare opportunity to research,
conceptualize, and design
for ideal consumer experiences that support Capital One customers in
their endeavor to be
money-confident and completely “in-love” with their financial
institution. On top of that, you’ll
be working with incredibly smart, humble, and passionate people in a
top-notch space
designed to inspire innovation. At the lab, you’ll be able to:
Collaborate with a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team to validate
hypotheses and
new product concepts
• Drive design research initiatives
• Facilitate team consensus building around personas, pain points, design
implications, etc
• Explore how people relate with their money and financial institution
• Deliver compelling stories, personas, and use-case scenarios that
advocate for users
needs and back up design decisions
• Deliver interaction models, information architectures, task flows,
wireframes, lo-fi
prototypes, and other interaction design deliverables
• Drive visual direction and strategy that further enhances ideal
experiences and
delights people along the way
• Develop and maintain design mockups and specifications
• Impact how more than 50 million people interact with their money

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Currently seeking a Masters of Design degree or related
• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite and other UX prototyping &
wireframing tools
• A strong understanding of the human-centered design process
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven track record and a passion for designing compelling, user experiences
• Ability to prototype your work in HTML/CSS/JS
• Solid intuition of best practices and tools used in UX/Interaction Design
• Strong visual design skills, including an eye for good typography,
composition, and
use of color
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, manage time, and
communicate progress and
expected milestones
