What you will be doing
You are responsible for defining and producing the user experience of
Match.com as part of a multidisciplinary, where millions of unique
visitors per month will have the pleasure of experiencing what you
have jointly produced with the team. You will also be responsible for
setting the creative direction of other customer touch points such as
banner ads and email campaigns.
Who you are
You have a passion for design and are not afraid to take risks in
terms of pushing design in the online realm. You love simple, well
designed products and have a great eye for design, especially little
details that many people miss. You believe that great design goes
beyond aesthetics and it is rather a creative resolution of other
important constraints including utility, usability, technology and
business needs. You are looking for a place that will let you shine
as a designer by producing meaningful work and at the same time be
allowed to try out interesting and innovative ideas. (Yes, there will
be day to day work that is boring or mundane but we will also have
fun producing great design and doing interesting projects).
We welcome people with varying levels of experience, but we require
demonstrated ability to manage a team, work with clients and lead
several projects. Over two years as a interaction/web designer is
ideal. You are also well versed in prototyping, you know when to care
about details and when focus on the big picture. You work well in
teams with diverse folks, have great sensitivity towards
human-centered design, collaborative problem solving and respect what
others bring to the table. You can express your work through many
tools, including Adobe CS, Flash, movie editing s/w like Final Cut
Pro or After Effects. Some proficiency of web technologies such as
AJAX, CSS is a plus.
We are looking for designers who are constantly striving to improve
their skill as creative thinkers. whether this is through traditional
means such as involvement in the design community or less traditional
avenues such as dance, music, photography etc.
Show us your work
Your portfolio should reflect work which shows your sensitivity to
aesthetics such as typography, layout, color and photography. We'd
also like to see work which shows us how you think. Show us work that
illustrates your creativity and imagination.
Our point of view on human centered design (design thinking)
We believe working in small teams and short timelines. We release
early and often and we believe that failing early on leads to success
sooner. Our inspiration comes from insights we gather from
observation and interaction with real customers. We work hard to find
out what people really need, we physically go into unknown territory,
into our customer's lives to gain inspiration rather than speculate.
We work with ambiguity. And we believe in a culture of doing. We
would rather prototype, test and iterate than theorize, debate and document.
