WHAT IS TEGU?

Named after Tegucigalpa, the capital city of
Honduras, Tegu is a vertically-integrated toy
company with its manufacturing facility in
Honduras and commercial office in Darien,
Connecticut. Brothers Chris (Stanford BSME ’02)
and Will Haughey set out to create a business
that would generate employment in Honduras while
providing attractive return opportunities for its
shareholders. Following its market debut in 2009,
Tegu has sold over 200,000 units of its
patent-pending magnetic wooden Blocks (“Tegu
Blocks”) and employs over 90 Hondurans. In
addition to online distribution through Tegu.com
and Amazon, Tegu Blocks can be found in shops
throughout the USA; Tegu’s growing retail
distribution network currently includes over
1,000 outlets in iconic retail locations like the
Museum of Modern Art and premium retailers like
Pottery Barn Kids. In 2014, Tegu is also
expanding its distribution in Europe and Asia.
