ROBOTICS COACH


Job Summary
--------------------
Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA, is looking to
hire a temporary Robotics Coach to support our
all-girls, high-school robotics team January 2016
through mid-February. The Robotics Coach is
responsible for giving students on the upper
school robotics team access to the Bourn Idea Lab
and securing the lab and campus at the end of
each team meeting during the team's build season.

(S)he is also in charge of overseeing the safe
and proper use of lab equipment by students
during team meetings and should a situation
arise, follow established campus emergency protocols.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
-----------------------------------------------------------
Before the start of robotics season in early January (approximately 10 hours):
- Work with robotics faculty advisor to obtain
the necessary training in equipment usage and school safety procedures

During build season (approximately 40 hours per week for six-seven weeks):
- Open the lab at the start of robotics meetings
and lock up the lab at the end of meetings.
- Be the responsible adult presence (chaperone) during robotics team meetings.
- Oversee and enforce safety policies of the lab and of the school
- Assist and, when necessary, train students in
the safe and proper use of lab equipment
- Maintain regular communication with robotics
faculty advisor and alert her of any concerns
regarding lab safety or equipment repairs.


Schedule
-------------
The Robotics Coach(es) meet(s) with the team on
weeknights from 5:30pm-10pm January through
mid-February and most weekend days from
10am-4pm. Two robotics coaches could split the
shifts as necessary. There may be one meeting in
mid-December prior to build season beginning in January.


Minimum Qualifications
----------------------------------
- Interest in working with high-school students in an educational setting.
- Prior experience in a wood/machine shop. (No
engineering or robotics experience necessary).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Able to pass state and federal fingerprinting
and background check and provide a recent negative TB test.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to be before build season begins


Compensation and Benefits
---------------------------------------
$22-25 per hour, depending on
qualifications. This is a temporary position and not benefit eligible.
