Position Title: Mechatronics Design Engineer

Position Summary: The Mechatronics Design
Engineer is responsible for designing and
developing new products as well as performing
iterative improvements to existing products.
Experience is to include mechanical, electronics,
PLC, and automation designs. The job
responsibilities also include leading project
development efforts through the complete product
life cycle: from idea generation to full
commercialization. Job and performance successes
will be driven by the ability to combine detailed
engineering knowledge to mechanical and
electrical system design with project management and team oversight

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

· Designs and develops flow meter
products using both internal and external product
requirements. Leads projects and development
efforts and works individually as assigned.

· Works closely with other Engineering
Team Members, Product Management, Operations and
Quality through the entire product lifecycle:
product inception, new product planning,
development, prototyping, testing, and transfer
to production; iterative modifications to
existing products, and product discontinuance.
Communicates and collaborates well with all
functional areas to meet the company’s goals and objectives.

· Creates, analyzes, and implements new
methods, processes, and procedures. Actively
participates in documentation and process development.

· Evaluates quality of designs and
products by developing and utilizing testing
methods to ensure adherence to product
specifications, tolerances, and acceptable standards.

· Plans and manages time and resources to
produce exceptional product designs and meets all
assigned responsibilities and deliverable timelines.

· Recommends and identifies capital
purchases (e.g. equipment, tooling, and software;
including internally developed tooling) to
increase productivity and efficiencies. Develops
in-house automation testing, calibration systems, and tooling as needed.

· Utilizes CAM based CNC programming,
machining, and fabrication of product components and prototypes.

· Follows safety programs and procedures
and properly uses and maintains equipment.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor Degree in Mechanical
Engineering, Mechatronics or similar engineering
discipline; Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.

· Minimum of seven (7) years of
mechanical design with substantial experience as
a project team lead and/or in an engineering
supervisory capacity. Proven successes in bringing new designs to market.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Proven project management, problem
solving, and organizational skills. Exceptional
leadership, interpersonal, and communication
skills to effectively lead design projects.

· Ability to collaborate with teams
across the organization to foster teamwork and
collaborative efforts to achieve the company’s goals and objectives.

· Self-directed and internally motivated;
ability to self-manage, prioritize, and take
ownership assignments and expectations; executes
well as an individual contributor and team leader.

· Possesses sound critical thinking and
decision-making skills; Ability to influence and
persuade others by exercising good judgement, tact, and discipline.

· Demonstrated experience in leading
continuous improvements in production processes
using ISO Quality Management principles and methodologies.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications, etc.:

· Advanced Proficiency in CAD Modeling
and Simulation: SolidWorks, preferred.

· Advanced Proficiency in Programming
Languages: LabVIEW experience strongly preferred.

· Machine Shop, Machining and Fabrication
experience including CAM/CNC programming (preferred, but not required).

· Knowledge, experience, and proficiency in ERP Systems.

· Project Management, Six Sigma, ISO9001,
and/or equivalent certification and practical
Quality Control experience highly desired, but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Senior Design
Engineer position is a non-managerial position
but does require project and team leadership
duties to include: directing, training, and
mentoring engineering and operations support staff.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50
pounds. Regularly required to sit or stand,
hear/listen, talk, and move about the facility.
May occasionally be required to perform tasks
with repetitive hand motion(s), bend, stoop,
climb stairs, kneel/squat, and pull/push.

Work Environment: A combination of office and
production shop floor environments. Noise levels
might be high on occasion. Work requires close
proximity to moving mechanical parts and
equipment, electrical current, working on ladders
and high places, and exposure to chemicals and oils.
