PURPOSE OF The JOB
Design and develop innovative medical devices in
support of Ceterix Orthopaedics’ strategic plan.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
R&D Engineer I/II:
* Design and develop new products as well as
product changes and enhancements which are
consistent with a zero defect level as well as
low product cost. Solve moderately complex problems at the product level.
· Develop test methods to optimize product
designs and evaluate prototypes.
· Prototype and develop new product concepts.
· Refine existing product designs for
enhanced reliability and improved manufacturability.
· Investigate and resolve technical
issues. Develop and implement improvements to
eliminate repeat occurrence of issues.
· Contribute to the intellectual property
position of the company through invention disclosures and patent applications.
· Maintain accurate documentation of
concepts, designs, drawings, processes, test methods and data.
· Perform all product development
activities in compliance with company’s quality system.
* Complete projects (including product
enhancements) in an aggressive manner consistent
with corporate objectives. Actively participate
in determining day to day tasks.
* Contribute to the intellectual property
position of the company via invention and patent
applications. Maintain accurate documentation of
concepts, designs, drawings, and processes.
* Procure and oversee outside vendors and consultants as required.
* Maintain GMP systems, including
pre-production quality assurance procedures,
pre-clinical testing programs, and post
production GMP compliance in coordination with
the Document Control, Clinical, and Quality
Assurance functions. Provide support in the
resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues.
* Work with the Manufacturing, Clinical
Affairs, Sales and Marketing, and Quality
Assurance functions to coordinate pilot production of new products.
* Support company goals and objectives,
policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and FDA regulations.
* Maintain a professional, credible image
with key physicians, consultants, vendors, and co-workers.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
R&D Engineer II:
* Conduct testing utilizing DOE methodology
and other experimental design tools. Generate effective testing reports.
* Conduct basic design review meetings as needed.
* Maintain current knowledge of competitive
technologies in addition to medical, technical,
and biomedical developments related to Ceterix products.
Preferred QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Job Experience:
· BSME or equivalent preferred.
· For R&D Engineer I, one year of experience or equivalent preferred.
· For R&D Engineer II, two years of experience is preferred.
· With an MS, one year of experience is preferred.
· Experience in the medical device industry is preferred.
Special Skills, Abilities, and Requirements:
* Willingness to work hands-on in fast paced start-up environment.
* Ability to communicate design ideas through
sketches as well as both rough and refined prototypes.
* CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred.
