Commercial Innovation Process Advisor
Location: Houston, TX, US

Job Role Summary

  The Commercial Innovation Process Advisor supports the definition,
selection, and testing of potential new business models for existing
Chemical products / business lines. This individual is responsible
for building new capabilities, ideas, and networks, and cultivating
business model concepts through ideation into prototyping. As a
member of a centralized team supporting multiple business lines, the
Advisor will impact the innovation culture, processes, and
capabilities company wide.

Primary Job Functions

Identify, design, test, and implement new business models with pilot
customers, built around new capabilities, services, partnerships,
etc. we want to test for scaling in the market:

*Market, and start-up surveillance techniques and capability
*Interfacing with third parties (academics, startups, government
institutes, consultants, etc.) to identify, vet, and develop
promising concepts, building long-term relationships with select third parties.
*Structuring and conducting ideation activity and workshops (with
internal and external participants) to explore the impacts and
opportunities of trends (Industry4.0, sustainability, etc.) for
markets we serve
*Facilitate and participate in test & learn prototyping in the
marketplace using lean start-up methods
*Advising IT activity to support digital components for new models
*Managing vendor engagements for related activities
*Embedding innovation into processes and culture.

Job Requirements

Bachelor or advanced degree in chemistry, material science,
engineering, business. Will consider non-technical candidates with
strong innovation, design, start-up experience.

*Entrepreneurial skills with experience selling ideas to a wide range
of stakeholders
*A minimum of 6 years of (combined) experience in the petrochemical
industry, innovation process/portfolio management, and/or start-up
business leadership
*Experience using digital technologies to shape business models and practices
*Experience in sustainability awareness, issues, and opportunities
for the chemical industry
*Experience with Design Thinking and innovation processes from
ideation to implementation

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

*Balance of technical and business acumen, including marketing,
financial, and business aspects of business development
*Establishing new relationships networks across a proven, broad base
of external resources
*Ability to influence without authority and leverage resources from
multiple internal organizations
*Results orientation with bias for action
*Ability to work with minimal supervision and shape plans
*Interest in exploring and learning new developments, advancements,
and knowledge in relevant fields
*Familiarity with intellectual property issues and IP protection
